LOVE EVERY NEIGHBOR DARES:

The LEND dares have been broken into 3 sections, based on what we think the difficulty level is(this may vary from person to person). The three levels are PRETTY COMFORTABLE, NOT SO COMFORTABLE, & OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE.    Throughout LEND it doesn’t matter which levels you choose from, but try at some point to choose at least one or two things that are more difficult for you.  Allow God to stretch you and take you out of your comfort zone.  At the end of each dare there is a symbol, these symbols help you to see who the dare might be good for. The symbol key is below:

PRETTY COMFORTABLE DARES:

  • Leave an encouraging note on a “neighbor’s” car. #
  • Send an encouraging email to a “neighbor” #
  • Pay for the person’s food in the car behind you at the drive thru.  Ask the clerk to give them a card that has information about Phos on it.  You can also give the clerk a little tip for doing so. #
  • Next time you are at a restaurant leave a 30% tip and a ph connect card. #
  • Prayer walk your “neighborhood” #
  • Leave a treat or handmade note of thanks for a delivery person or mail carrier. #
  • Roll your “neighbor’s” garbage cans back up the driveway at the end of trash pick-up day. #
  • After loading your groceries into the car, return your shopping cart. #
  • Give out light bulbs with an encouraging 
  • scripture/Phos connect card. #
  • Take flowers to work and share them with coworkers. $
  • Leave enough money in a vending machine for the next person to get a free treat. (tape a ph card or scripture to the change) #
  • Get to work before others and leave a piece of candy, brownie, fruit, flower, etc.  at every desk attached with a scripture or ph card. $
  • Leave a cake or other food item in a central area with a thank-you note. $
  • Print an inspiring story and put it on your work bulletin board. $
  • Hug your brother or sister. :)
  • Help your parents with dinner. :)
  • Tell your mom your favorite thing that she does for you. :)
  • Pick up the sticks in your yard. :)
  • Make a card for your “neighbor” :)
  • Draw a picture of your whole family to put on your refrigerator. :)
  • Leave a bouquet of flowers on a “neighbor’s” front step anonymously. @
  • Clean up litter on a stretch of road in your “neighborhood”. @
  • Give some “neighbors” who are parents a night out on the town. %
  • Volunteer to pick up the children of some “neighbors” from school. %
  • Offer to bring someone who is homebound some books from the library. ^
  • Buy a homebound person some stationary so they can write notes.  ^

NOT SO COMFORTABLE DARES:

  • Offer to help a “neighbor” with something they need. #
  • Establish a restaurant or 2 where you are a regular.  Get to know the staff. #
  • Take a walk in your “neighborhood” with the intention of meeting some new folks.   #
  • Collect goods for a food bank together with your “neighbors”. #
  • Clean graffiti from neighborhood walls and buildings. #
  • Send a gift anonymously to a neighbor. #
  • Slip a $20 bill to a person who you know is having financial difficulty. #
  • Purchase a copy of a book with encouraging scripture and give it to a “neighbor”.  Use a ph connect card as a bookmark. #
  • If a neighbor is moving, offer to bring food. #
  • Make a point to go to the same stores and use the same clerk.  Each time you are there, get to know something about them.  #
  • Write a note to the boss of someone who has helped you, praising the employee.  $
  • Buy a cup of coffee or snack for someone who is having a long day. #
  • Write a note to your teacher. :)
  • Make a bookmark for your librarian. :)
  • Let someone else go first in a game. :)
  • Think about why you like your best friend and tell them. :)
  • Let your brother or sister choose where to eat out the next time.  :)
  • Let a friend choose what movie you are going to watch. :)
  • Bake cookies together, and take them to a “neighbor” who needs a lift.  @
  • Pitch in and clean up the yard of a “neighbor” who is ill, has had surgery, or has had a family emergency. @
  • Place a flower in your “neighbor’s” newspaper without them seeing it.  Put an encouraging scripture or ph card in with it. @
  • Deliver a cooked meal for an entire family. %
  • Run and errand for some “neighbors” who are parents. %
  • Offer to help with homework or tutor a child that is having trouble at school. %
  • Find a good news story in the media and email them regularly to a “neighbor” who is homebound. ^
  • Help a “neighbor” take care of their pets. #

 

OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE DARES:

  • Mow the lawn of a “neighbor”. #
  • Invite someone to go on a walk with the intention of getting to know them. #
  • Get involved in a local non-profit organization – not affiliated with a church. #
  • Invite some new friends over for dinner.  #
  • Take a “neighbor” out for lunch. #
  • Stop by a nursing home, and visit a resident with no family nearby. #
  • If your usual clerk isn’t available at the grocery store, choose the longest line @ the store and get to know some new “neighbors”. #
  • Start a book group with some folks who are non-christians, discuss a topical book that could spark questions about God.  Ex. “The Shack” by William Young.  #
  • Help clean-up a nearby park :)
  • Ask your neighbor if you can help them pull weeds. :)
  • See if your mom will help you bake a tasty treat for a new family in your neighborhood. :)
  • Try to be friends with someone who is lonely :)
  • Give away something that is valuable to you, with your parents’ permission. :)
  • Don’t complain at school. :)
  • Clean something at home without being asked. :)
  • Have a party at home to get to meet some friends at school. :)
  • Invite someone over who is new to your school and doesn’t know anyone yet.  :)
  • Volunteer with your children to help at a local school. @
  • Create a love your neighbor family journal, about kind acts both given and received, and create a family scrapbook.  If you have photos, include them with the stories.  As years go by and as your children grow, all of you can review the many ways that kindness has touched your family’s life.  @
  • Let the children of some “neighbors” who are parents spend the day with you or have an “overnight”  with your children. %
  • Take a parent out to dinner at their favorite place %
